Resource Room
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the Resource Room at NGCA. I am excited about the new program that has been put into place this year. The resource program was designed for students who have special needs. This gives them the same opportunities to have a well-rounded education in a Christian environment, but have the use of a resource room. As the resource teacher, it is my responsibility to provide direction and use a variety of methods to help a child reach his or her full potential.
As a resource teacher, I work with the classroom teachers and parents to meet the needs of students with learning disabilities or those who are simply having difficulty with a particular subject. I strive to have effective communication with the teachers and parents on a weekly basis.
The Resource Room offers three types of programs: an educational and language program, remedial reading and/or math, and tutoring.
Are you aware that the NC Assembly passed House Bill 344 in 2011 that provides a tax credit up to $6,000 a year ($3,000 per semester) for students with disabilities who are moving from a public school to a private school? That could mean, according to your tax situation, that your child could attend NGCA at no or very little cost to you. The following link will give you a good summary of the bill as well as link you to the bill itself: Autism Society of North Carolina: Education Tax Credit. Clicking on the link will open a new window and link you to an outside site.
I would be glad to work with you in seeking ways to help your child develop to the best of his or her ability. I feel privileged to be able to assist children in developing their skills and needs.
In HIS Service,
Kathy Hayner
