The Neil Goslen and Brown Family Scholarship Funds
These Scholarship Funds are available to any student whose parents need help with tuition costs in order for their child(ren) to attend Neighbors Grove Christian Academy. Making a Christian education possible for as many children as possible has been a high priority at NGCA, thanks to the assistance of some very special people.
The Neil Goslen Scholarship Fund is supported by an annual fundraising event held in loving memory of Neil Goslen, a rising first grader, who on June 27, 2004 was called home by our Lord. Anyone who met Neil could see that he loved life and truly loved people. He would be excited to know that he is still able to help children go to his school. For 7 years, Neil’s parents, Ben and Julie, and extended family and friends, sponsored the Neil Goslen Neighbors Grove Open – a golf tournament, combined with a silent auction, that was the primary source of income for the scholarship fund. After so unselfishly giving countless days and hours for those many years to this amazing event that garnered nearly $100,000 in scholarship dollars, the Goslens have felt the need to hand the fundraising “leadership baton” to the academy to continue to fund this scholarship for the sake of other children and Christian education. Ben and Julie continue to be key sponsors and supporters in the fundraising efforts.
The Brown Family Scholarship Fund was established in November 2011 by a designated gift from the Vestha Brown Trust. Miss Vestha Brown, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Brown, was a devoted public school teacher and lifelong member of Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church. Her two great passions were missions and children. She combined those two loves by teaching the YMWB (Young Missionaries Workers Band) for many years. YMWB met monthly for children to learn about the work of missionaries and the needs of world missions. Vestha also taught Sunday School in the primary or preschool classes for over 50 years. All of the Brown children and many of their descendants have been very active in the ministry of Neighbors Grove. The ministry of this family is now multiplied through children’s lives transformed by the grace of Christ experienced in the classrooms and worship chapels of Neighbors Grove Christian Academy. The church continues this Brown family legacy of investing in children through their ongoing contributions to this fund.
Any parents needing financial assistance in order for their child(ren) to receive a Christian education, are encouraged to apply for scholarship assistance by submitting the following information:

- A copy of your household budget
- A letter of request stating the amount of assistance needed in order for your child(ren) to attend and the circumstances that require scholarship assistance
